Growth plan for Jinx, 6 Oct 2026
Scale spend. Hold CAC.
Jinx already has a Freeze-Dried Chicken Topper with 135 Reviews at 4.8 out of 5 stars. The plan turns proof like that into many ad concepts, tests them cheaply, and scales only what holds a $3.84 target CAC. Everything else follows from that one number.

- Target CAC
- $3.84
- New ads a week at peak
- 20
- Creators live by week six

01 The number
Hold $3.84 CAC on Jinx's $8.00 Salmon Jerky Bites
The number is $3.84 CAC. It is 0.6 of a $6.40 ceiling, built from an $8 average order, a 40% margin and one repeat order. Jinx's subscription with 5% off every repeat order makes that repeat plausible, but until I see your data it is a guess.
Protect
Target CAC: $3.84 on a first purchase
Ceiling = average order × margin × (1 + repeat orders): $8 × 40% × (1 + 1) = $6.40. Guard line = 0.6 × $6.40 = $3.84. Across the ranges: $0.52 to $66.15.
Three moves
- Kill any ad above the $3.84 guard line early, before it eats into the $24,000 test budget.
- Lead every first concept with Jinx proof, like 135 Reviews on the Freeze-Dried Chicken Topper.
- Push first orders toward subscriptions, since Jinx takes 5% off every repeat order.

02 Variety
Starter packs, toppers and cat food each need their own hook
Each ad concept has to carry one product, one reason to buy and one proof. Jinx gives me real material: Picky Dog Essentials Starter Pack at $36.00, Puppy Essentials Starter Pack at $34.00, Senior Cage-Free Chicken Dog Food at $18.00. Every concept changes one variable.
| Reason to buy | Proof you already have | Ads (proposed) |
|---|---|---|
| Real grass-fed beef | Real grass-fed beef as #1 ingredient | 8 |
| Simmered in bone broth | Simmered in bone broth for a soft, fresh texture and savory flavor | 3 |
| Money-back guarantee | 100% Money-Back Guarantee | 2 |
| 1% to a nonprofit you pick | 1% of every Jinx purchase is donated to a nonprofit of your choice. | 2 |
| Rated 4.8 on Chicken Topper | 4.8 out of 5 stars. Read reviews for Freeze-Dried Chicken Topper | 1 |
| Free shipping on $65+ | We offer free shipping on orders $65+. | 1 |
| Omega-3s for skin and coat | A balanced blend of omega-3 & 6 fatty acids support healthy skin & a shiny coat. | 1 |
| Total | The ad concepts tab | 18 |

Each row is a reason to buy that the brand already has proof for. The count is how many of the ads carry it: a reason with a single ad is a bet, not a pattern, and the next batch of concepts moves toward the reasons that win.
03 Disturbances
Free shipping at $65+ can push small baskets past the ceiling
| Disturbance | Likelihood | Impact | Owner | Gate (proposed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free shipping starts at $65+, so small baskets may miss the $6.40 ceiling | Med | High | Me | Pause spend if average order stays under $8 after the second test week |
| Reviews are thin outside the Freeze-Dried Chicken Topper; some pages show 0 Reviews | High | Med | Your team | A landing page gets spend only once it shows at least one review |
| Health wording drifts past Jinx's own line on omega-3 and 6 for skin and coat | Med | High | Both | Claims sheet signed off before any creator brief goes out |
| Winning ads fade as audiences tire of the same hook | Med | Med | Me | Pull any ad whose CAC passes $3.84 for three days running |
| Tracking gaps hide true CAC and subscription repeat orders | High | High | Your team | Purchase and subscription events match store orders before the first scale-up |
| Creators miss the weekly video count, so new ads run dry | Med | Med | Me | Pause new creator signings if videos fall behind the 14 to 70 weekly plan |
| Subscriptions ship every 3 to 8 weeks, so repeat orders arrive slowly | Med | High | Both | Stop any scenario that never pays back at the $6.40 ceiling |
Scores are my read from outside the company, re-scored in week one with your data. Each risk has one owner and one gate that can be checked with a number, so nobody has to argue about whether it happened.
04 The ceiling
The ceiling is $6.40, and the guard line sits at $3.84
| Line | Value | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Average order | $8 (range $1.00–$49.00) | Assumption Range from the site product prices (Published); the midpoint is a guess |
| Gross margin | 40% (range 35–45%) | Assumption Replace in week one |
| Repeat orders after the first | 1 (range 0.5–2) | Assumption Replace with cohort data in week one |
| Margin per customer, all orders | $6.40 | Calculated Average order × margin × (1 + repeat orders) |
| Guard line for CAC | $3.84 | Calculated 0.6 × the margin per customer |
The math, with the assumed lines
Ceiling = average order × margin × (1 + repeat orders): $8 × 40% × (1 + 1) = $6.40. Guard line = 0.6 × $6.40 = $3.84. Across the ranges: $0.52 to $66.15.
Range across the assumptions: $1 to $66.
The $8 order, 40% margin and one repeat order are guesses, not Jinx facts. Only the $6.40 ceiling and $3.84 guard line follow from them. Week one replaces each guess with your real numbers.
The ceiling is a range, not one number: the most a new customer can cost before shipping and packaging, which I do not have. Replace the guessed lines with yours and every figure below recalculates.
05 Test ramp
Six weeks of tests, $24,000 in total, before any scale-up
| Week | New ads × budget / ad (proposed) | Weekly test spend | Cumulative | Creators posting | CAC target (proposed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 12 × $250 | $3,000 | $3,000 | 0 | $4 |
| 2 | 12 × $250 | $3,000 | $6,000 | 2 | $4 |
| 3 | 12–20 × $250 | $4,000 | $10,000 | 4 | $4 |
| 4 | 12–20 × $250 | $4,000 | $14,000 | 6 | $4 |
| 5 | 20 × $250 | $5,000 | $19,000 | 8 | $4 |
| 6 | 20 × $250 | $5,000 | $24,000 | 10 | $4 |
Week 1 and week 2 run 12 ads at $250 each, $3,000 a week. Weeks 3 and 4 run 12–20 ads, $4,000 a week. Weeks 5 and 6 run 20 ads, $5,000 a week. Total $24,000 of tests, all Proposed, losers killed early.
The math. Week 1: 12 × $250 = $3,000; Week 2: 12 × $250 = $3,000; Week 3: 16 × $250 = $4,000; Week 4: 16 × $250 = $4,000; Week 5: 20 × $250 = $5,000; Week 6: 20 × $250 = $5,000. Total $24,000 (96 ads × $250). A range such as 12–20 counts as its midpoint.
Weeks one and two test what the brand already has, rewritten per reason to buy. From week three, creator videos enter paid only after they beat their own account median. A range of new ads counts as its midpoint in the spend column.
06 Volume
More concepts on Jinx's 135-review topper mean more winners
More concepts mean more shots at a winner. Twenty concepts give two winners and $18,000 added a month; eighty give eight and $72,000. Hit rate and spend per winner are my assumptions, not Jinx data.
| Concepts tested / month | Hit rate (assumed) | New winners / month | Spend each winner holds (assumed) | Added spend at target CAC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | 10% | 2 | $300 / day | $18,000 / month |
| 40 | 10% | 4 | $300 / day | $36,000 / month |
| 60 | 10% | 6 | $300 / day | $54,000 / month |
| 80 | 10% | 8 | $300 / day | $72,000 / month |
The math. 20 concepts × 10% = 2 winners × $300 × 30 days = $18,000 a month; 40 concepts × 10% = 4 winners × $300 × 30 days = $36,000 a month; 60 concepts × 10% = 6 winners × $300 × 30 days = $54,000 a month; 80 concepts × 10% = 8 winners × $300 × 30 days = $72,000 a month.
The hit rate and the spend each winner holds are placeholders. The first thirty days of tests replace them with real numbers, and the table is recalculated the same day.
07 Allocation
Split the $100,000 so tests, winners and creators all get funded
- New ad tests across Jinx starter packs and toppers
- $45,000
- 45%
- Scaling winners that hold the $3.84 guard line
- $30,000
- 30%
- Creator pay for the ten live creators
- $15,000
- 15%
- Landing page tests on Jinx product pages
- $10,000
- 10%
Proposed split of the $100,000 budget; I would move money from tests to winners only when CAC holds at the guard line.
The math. 45% × $100,000 = $45,000; 30% × $100,000 = $30,000; 15% × $100,000 = $15,000; 10% × $100,000 = $10,000. Sum 100% = $100,000.
This split is a proposal. It moves toward scaling as winners prove out, and toward testing when fatigue shows.
08 Channels
Meta opens first; other channels wait for a proven Jinx winner
| Channel | Open when (proposed) | Why wait |
|---|---|---|
| Meta | Week one, with the first 12 ads | Starter packs and toppers need showing; Meta carries creator video at test volume. |
| TikTok | After the first winners clear $3.84 | Creator videos already exist by then, so reuse costs little. |
| YouTube Shorts | When two Meta winners hold CAC for a week | Picky eaters and puppy routines suit short demos. |
| Google Search | When Meta lifts searches for Jinx | It catches shoppers comparing fresh dog food by name. |
| After the first purchases land | Subscriptions can skip a delivery, so reminders protect repeat orders. |
A channel opens when its condition is true, not when the calendar says so. Until then the budget stays where the CAC is earned.
09 Payback
Payback decides it: a $5 CAC leaves $1.40, $10 never pays back
Payback is the real constraint. At a $5 CAC an order leaves $1.40 after repeat orders. At $10, $15 or $20 it never pays back, so I stop. Jinx's 5% off every repeat order and delivery every three to eight weeks shape how fast repeats land.
Cumulative margin per customer, order by order, before CAC: $3.20, $6.40.
| CAC (scenario) | First-order margin | Year-one margin | Left after CAC | Payback |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5 | $3.20 | $6.40 | $1.40 | After repeat orders |
| $10 | $3.20 | $6.40 | −$3.60 | Never: stop |
| $15 | $3.20 | $6.40 | −$8.60 | Never: stop |
| $20 | $3.20 | $6.40 | −$13.60 | Never: stop |
The math. CAC $5: $6.40 − $5 = $1.40 left; pays back: After repeat orders; CAC $10: $6.40 − $10 = −$3.60 left; pays back: Never: stop; CAC $15: $6.40 − $15 = −$8.60 left; pays back: Never: stop; CAC $20: $6.40 − $20 = −$13.60 left; pays back: Never: stop.
Read each row left to right: the margin of the first purchase, the margin over the whole horizon, what is left after CAC, and the purchase on which the CAC is earned back. A scenario that never pays back is a stop, not a test.
10 Scope
What I cover on Jinx, and what stays with your team
Covers
- Meta ad strategy, testing and daily CAC reporting on Jinx
- Creator briefs and a hook library for dogs and cats
- Claims sheet and landing page briefs for Jinx products
- Weekly learnings and monthly cohort payback
Doesn’t
- Event tracking build; I spec it, your team works it
- Product, formulation and shipping decisions
- Customer service and subscription operations
- Any health claim beyond Jinx's own wording
What this plan covers is what I can change inside the ad account and the creator program. Everything outside it is named on the right so nobody assumes it is handled.
Gates, written before spend, so stopping isn’t a negotiation.
| Day | Keep going if (proposed) | Stop or change if |
|---|---|---|
| Day 14 | At least one ad concept at or under $3.84 CAC and tracking matches store orders | Tracking still can't match store orders |
| Day 30 | Winning ads hold $3.84 CAC for a full week as spend grows | CAC sits above $6.40 for a full week |
| Day 60 | Cohorts show repeat orders on track to leave money after repeat orders | Cohort payback shows a CAC that never pays back |
| Day 90 | Spend scaled with CAC still at the $3.84 guard line and winners refreshed | CAC above $6.40 after two refresh rounds |
Each gate is checked on its day with the numbers in the daily and weekly reports. If the stop condition is true, the spend stops and nothing renews until we talk.
What exists, what’s missing, and the order that’s forced.
| Piece | Exists today | Missing | Forced order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creative | Freeze-Dried Chicken Topper: 135 Reviews, 4.8 stars | Ad concepts built on that proof | 1st |
| Creators | Picky Dog and Puppy Essentials Starter Packs to brief on | Creator roster and briefs | 2nd |
| Claims sheet | Own wording on omega-3 and 6 for skin and coat | One signed-off sheet for every creator | Week 1 |
| Landing pages | Starter packs at $36.00 and $34.00 | One page built per concept | 2nd |
| Reporting | Subscription with 5% off every repeat order | Daily CAC and cohort payback views | Week 1 |
The order is forced on purpose: creative and creators come first because they are what moves CAC, and everything else waits for that data.

Month one is where it starts.
Week one: I read your claims, write the claims sheet, brief the first creators around the Picky Dog Essentials Starter Pack, and ship the first 12 ads. You get daily CAC from day one, measured against the $3.84 guard line.
